When do I need a Level 2 Electrician ?
There are three different types of electricians, normal (Level 1), Level 2 and Level 3. So how does a level 2 is differ from normal electrician work ?
Level 2 electricians are more qualified and are required to comply with the strict NSW rules and regulations. They need to be closely monitored to ensure they follow safety procedures while doing their work. We can assist with both normal and Level 2 Electrical work.
Level 2 Electrician
The main difference between a normal electrician and a level 2 electrician is the level of training and the license they hold. Level 2 electricians are more trained to handle not only repair and maintenance but also do installations. Level 2 electricians are able to handle overhead and underground electrical services between the customer, your home or business, and an electrical supply network. Below are services provided by level 2 electricians.
1) Meter Installation
Level 2 electrician is licensed and authorised to install a power meter in your home. You need a meter to keep track of your power usage and billing.
2) Disconnection and reconnection
Electricity distributors can authorize disconnection of the power supply to a customer because of various reasons such as; safety measures or if the customer has not paid their electricity bill for a long time. To do this work, the electricity distributors must send a level 2 electrician to disconnect power supply because they have the skills do to so. After the issues have been resolved, an electrician level 2 is also required to reconnect the power supply.
3) Underground and overhead power supply
Electric power is transmitted through two ways, underground or overhead supply. Both types have their own advantages and disadvantages and there are special cases where one of them can be recommended to the other. Underground power supply involves the use of cables that pass underground while overhead uses electric poles and cables to supply power. Level 2 electricians are able to install underground or overhead power supply. They can also replace electric poles and or cables.
4) Upgrade power
To upgrade from a single phase to 3 phase. Single phase is mostly used for domestic use while 3 phase is most commonly used for industrial or commercial use. If you need to switch your electricity supply from a single phase to 3 phase, you can contact a level 2 electrician..
